Tokyo's busiest scramble crossing, where up to a few thousand people cross on each light change. It is the city at its most kinetic.
Why visit
It is free, easy to reach and instantly recognizable. Stand at the crossing for a minute, then watch it from above for a completely different sense of the flow.
Practical tips
- •The Starbucks and Shibuya Sky both overlook the crossing, but Shibuya Sky is the better view.
- •Walk the crossing on the green light — locals will move around you if you pause in the middle.
